A Guide to Selecting Cone Crusher Liners
Cone crushers take on the strenuous task of crushing large rocks into a smaller size. Essentially, they operate like compression crushers. The liners of the cone crusher are crucial for protecting the mantle and the concaves inside the compression chamber from wear and tear. These are easily replaceable parts and have to be switched out often to maintain optimal performance.
The Feed
The biggest factor to consider when getting a new cone crusher liner is the feed. For your crushing chamber’s performance, a good quality feed is essential. Generally, a well-graded feed has the following features:
For the closed-side feed opening, there should be a passing of around 90% to 100%. For the open side, ideally, it should be around 80% but many people pick the smaller among the two choices. Only 40% to 605 for passing the mid, with 0 to 10% for the closed-side setting.
Considerations
Many people make the mistake of focusing on only the feed size, but in reality, the feed gradation is just as important. Otherwise, you won’t be making the most out of the entire chamber. Utilizing the whole chamber helps get a proper reduction. The size of the feed and how reduced the material is from primary crushing determines feed size, from where you can figure out the cavity’s opening.
If the opening is bigger than the feed size, the liners won’t be used well enough for proper reduction of the material. If the feed is smaller though, it will cause the material to sink to the bottom of the cavity, leading to more wear and tear to the bottom of the liner.
When To Change Liners
Once you start noticing some drop in productivity, anywhere from 10% to 15% of the crushing throughput, it’s a clear indication that your liners are worn out. Upon inspection, you’ll notice that its linear thickness may have gone down from compressing all those rocks in between.
